“Happiness is the sand between my toes.”
I recently had the amazing opportunity to work with Jules Frijling, the creative mind behind Bayu the Label (and total babe!).
Bayu offers a selection of gorgeous swimwear representative of the Euro summer we all daydream about. The designs are a throwback to the high cut patterns that dominated the 90s. Definitely suited to the kind of girl who wants to make a statement when she steps onto the white sandy shores of the Cape Town beachfront.
To me Bayu the label is more than just a swimsuit brand, it’s a lifestyle and after doing the makeup for two gorgeous shoots, I was ready to book my ticket to Bali! It was so humbling to have worked with 2 amazing photographers who came to visit the shores of Clifton and Camps Bay for the summer.
The first, Kenza La Bas is based in Paris (basically living everyone’s dream). She inspired me to broaden my career horizons, to travel and to be fearless in my pursuit of success. We worked with IMG Model (Yes, IMG MODEL!) Schirin Frosch who was so friendly and so humble despite her amazing level of success in the modeling industry.
My second shoot took place a few days later and I can finally confirm that Dutch imports are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Marilyn Bartman was the photographer for the day and she exuded “beachy “vibes. It felt like a fun day beside the ocean instead of a morning at work! Gorgeous Soraya Cruz of D & A Model Management joined us for the shoot at Clifton 3rd Beach. She told me that she loves supporting small brands based both locally and abroad. Again I was flawed by how amazingly kind and humble she was!
Overall it was a stunning two days spent with some truly awesome ladies making waves in their respective industries. And can one really call a day on Clifton beach “work”? I think my office is definitely better than your office!
